Carrie works with each family to provide comprehensive feedback throughout the college process.
Services include:
Family Support:
- Maintain consistent communication with parent/guardians regarding student progress
- Meet with the family, if necessary, to be sure everyone is on the same page
- Available for in-person meetings and phone calls
Development of college list:
- Thoroughly examine characteristics of colleges important to the student
- Identify colleges that are an academic and social match for the student’s strengths and preferences
- Advise on chances for admission at each recommended school
- Compile a final list of approximately 6-12 schools offering a range of admission possibilities
Assistance with college visit planning:
- Help facilitate communication with appropriate admission counselors at colleges
- Visit preparation, including a mock interview (if applicable/appropriate)
- Guidance on scheduling visit itineraries
- Evaluating a college visit
Guidance on special programs/interests exclusive of the admission process:
- Athletic recruitment process
- Honors programs
- Art school application/portfolio submission (not including artwork selection)
- Transfer application process
Development of standardized testing plan:
- Understand the differences/benefits of the SAT, ACT and Subject Tests (as needed)
- Recommend appropriate preparation strategy/tutoring
Advice on extracurricular activity and course selection:
- Organize and appropriately describe all relevant extracurricular, athletic, employment and community service activities
- Develop an activity résumé for college applications and interviews
Completion of applications for admission:
- Assist in strategy for applying: EA, ED/EDII &/or RD
- Review and proofread applications prior to submission
- Advise on wait list and/or deferral process (if applicable)
Comprehensive essay review:
- Oversee all aspects of the essay process, from brainstorming ideas, editing and revising, through the final draft
- Common Application essay, supplemental essay questions, short answers, and school-specific essay questions (number of essays varies by student, based on college list)
